Meet the Team: Ife Akintoye, Marketing Manager

The Bailiss & Co team is growing! We now have an in-house marketer, Ifẹ Akintoye, to add to our repertoire.

In this latest Meet the Team edition, Ifẹ discusses what she loves about being a marketer in an engineering world, what excites her about her job, and what she’s been up to since joining Bailiss & Co.

A communicative creative

Ifẹ has always been a creative and a communicator; she hosted her own radio show at 16 and has always loved persuasive text.

After graduating from university with a degree in Creative Design with Marketing and spending a few years experimenting in different fields, she landed her first B2B marketing role and never looked back.

“I’ve been in the world of marketing for more than 12 years,” she explains. “Almost five of which were spent at a large engineering firm.”

During that time, Ifẹ has nurtured teams, travelled the world and created some amazing campaigns. She now spends her time freelancing, alongside working at Bailiss & Co.

Seeing things come together

For Ifẹ, the most rewarding part of marketing is seeing the results.

“I’ve gotten to the point in my career where my niche has become building functions from scratch, or fixing what isn’t working, which is probably why a portfolio career works so well for me,” she says.

“I get a genuine thrill when I see everything start to piece together after all the hard work. And then when the results start to trickle in…”

The process is all part of that feeling too. Watching things blossom from ideation, sometimes starting as a thought while brushing her teeth, to full-blown creation is a wonderful thing to see.

Marketing in an engineering world

The engineering sector is one of Ifẹ’s favourite sectors to work in as a marketing professional. It’s fascinating to her, and the stories are amazing, which, as she puts it, is every communications person’s dream.

“Bailiss & Co’s founding principles are built on working with what we already have, thus putting less strain on the planet”. To Ifẹ, this adds even more depth to the engineering journey. “As a marketer, stories like these are a joy to be able to tell,” she says. These principles are also very much aligned with Ifẹ personally, adding an extra layer of passion to everything she gets to talk about.

Looking ahead

Since joining the team, Ifẹ has enjoyed learning about Bailiss & Co’s projects and meeting some of the clients and collaborators at the company’s recent anniversary celebration in London.

Now, she’s ready to start telling more of the company’s stories while showing everyone what Baillis & Co are made of.

“Our audiences have a range of pain points that they’re trying to overcome, especially in today’s confronting world,” she says. “We can help them overcome these challenges, and I’m ready to start communicating that to them.”

For Ifẹ, the next step is simple: more of everything
